UK Researchers Develop Self-replicating Robot - Gizmo Watch: "researchers have developed a unique robot that can replicate its own parts and create 3D plastic objects. Known as RepRap, this wonderful machine is the brainchild of Dr. Adrian Bowyer from the University of Bath. RepRap works like a printer. However, it does not squirt ink on to paper. It uses additive fabrication technology to print thin layers of molten plastic, which then solidify to make three-dimensional objects like door handles, sandals and coat hooks. The robot can also create its own 3D-printed parts."
