Em sua emblemática loja Sony Style da cidade de Nova York, na semana passada, em uma sala cheia de blogueiros, imprensa local e pessoas curiosas sobre 3D, foi realizada uma demonstração completa dos novos Sony 3D HDTVs.

Neste momento as Lojas Sony Style são o único lugar onde você pode ver 3D demo da Sony. Nela a Sony mostra um jogo de futebol FIFA, e previews de PlayStation com jogos em 3D.

Além de permitir resolução quatro vezes maior que o Full HD e imagens 3D, o novo HDMI substitui até o cabo de rede. Conheça o componente que vai revolucionar os eletrônicos.

Da mesma forma, as especificações do novo padrão HDMI 1.4 permitem melhorias na transmissão entre os aparelhos. Mas isso não significa que a simples substituição do cabo aumente a qualidade final da imagem, ela apenas disponibiliza os recursos necessários para a nova geração de eletrônicos. O HDMI 1.4 já está pronto, o cabo aguarda apenas a chegada de aparelhos compatíveis ao mercado para ocupar seu espaço nas lojas.

Todos os recursos que já estavam presentes nas especificações anteriores do HDMI continuam no padrão 1.4. O novo modelo soma novas possibilidades, assim como garante a comunicação entre aparelhos do padrão 1.3 sem qualquer vantagem.

So much momentum, in fact, that the brilliant minds over at Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft have decided to bust out a 3D innovation that actually makes us eager to sink our minds into the elusive third dimension. The iPoint 3D, which we're hoping to get up close and personal with at CeBIT next week, is a technology that enables Earthlings to interact with a 3D display via simple gestures -- all without touching the panel and without those style-smashing 3D glasses. The gurus even go so far as to compare their creation to something you'd see in a science fiction flick, with the heart of it involving a recognition device (usually suspended above the user) and a pair of inbuilt cameras. There's no mention of just how crazy expensive this would be if it were ready for the commercial realm, but we'll try to snag an estimated MSRP for ya next week.

The Raw Feed: Car Dash Shows Data On 'Need-To-Know' Basis In 3-D: "A car dashboard system developed by researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute for Telecommunications, Heinrich-Hertz-Institute, in Berlin shows a constantly changing 3-D version of roads, towns and more. The 3-D representation is augmented by user-selectable functions, including music playing, traffic reports and others. Unlike conventional dashboards, which show all data all the time with fixed dials and gauges, the 3-D system would show such data only when needed. The dashboard's computer chooses what information is most important to the driver at any time. If tire pressure is low, that information appears in the foreground. Alerts, such as a low-fuel warning, 'jump out at' the driver. The system uses cameras to determine exactly where the driver's eyes are, so the illusion of 3-D can be achieved without funny glasses. The first prototype of the car dash will be shown at CeBIT in Hanover, Germany, March 3."

72-inch 3D Display Requires No Special Glasses To Be Viewed - Gizmo Watch: "3D display systems could see a revolution in the making, thanks to Japan’s National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT), which has collaborated with Victor Company of Japan to develop a 72-inch 3D display that does not need special 3D glasses and can be viewed with the naked eye. The new technology makes it possible for multiple projectors to project images on the screen from the back. On doing so, it enables 3D representation. The coolest thing about the display has to be the fact that each projector provides a pixel count of 100 million or more. The optical system, alignment of the projectors, and also the way light behaves creates images that are almost lifelike."

The latest development in this field of science is the LED Cube. Reports suggest that the Cube uses video as the input, reconstructs the original image and displays it in the form of flashing LED bulbs. So, what’s the big deal? Well, scientists believe that the LED Cube is a functional prototype for a 3D display unit. Going forward, the creators would replace LEDs with nanotechnology, wherein enclosed light emitters display 3D images. A Multi-touch Table With 3D Display - Gizmo Watch: "The Coperion Group released all details about the interactive information desk to its visitors at the plastics fair, K 2007, held at Dusseldorf. The concept was developed jointly by the research and design centers at Wuerzburg and the Fraunhofer IGD in Darmstadt. The interactive display table is completely three-dimensional and can be viewed in real-time. Images can be enlarged into a transparent presentation, which is made possible by the new instant-reality technology from Fraunhofer IGD. One of the priority objectives of the multi-touch table was the presentation of an ideal interlocutor situation developed on the basis of interaction logic and refraining from additional input devices. Even inexperienced users would able to use the system without additional help since all entries, queries or details are done with the touch of the fingertips. This multi-touch table certainly helps with three-dimensional presentations."
