Akustisch Multitouch Interface - Transforma gestos em som

Uma nova interface “multitouch” para produção, controle e manipulação de som digital, o Akustisch é como um instrumento de música digital baseado em uma interface táctil.

Desenvolvido por Balz Rittmeyer como um projecto Graduação na Universidade de Arte e Design Zurique, a Akustisch é uma sugestão para o futuro dos instrumentos musicais.

O Akustisch é um conceito que utiliza gestos complexos sobre uma superfície multitouch para controlar e criar música.

Interactive Struktable, Another Table For Multi-touch Fun - Gizmo Watch: "Big, interactive multi-touch screens always have a high rank for their cool factor, and also because playing air hockey on these touchscreens is great fun. The Struktable from Strukt Design Studios is a 70-inch display that can simultaneously interact with eight people, over a diverse range of applications. It works on the rather frustratingly named FTIR (frustrated total internal reflection) effect, using infrared LEDs to recognize touch. The Struktable was recently displayed at the Toca Me Design Conference in Munich."

ATTIGO TT Touch Screen Turntable, Good Ol' Vinyls Get A Boot - Gizmo Watch: "All you fast-fingered DJs out there might want to slow down a little and take at look at this turntable which could soon become the rage across the DJing universe. We’re talking about the Touch Screen Table that Scott Hubbs has managed to conjure up. Scott, a student from Dundee University has put together the ATTIGO TT that will let you loop, sample and scratch at will, the difference being that you need to give the good ol’ vinyls the boot and embrace the touchscreen. Though it sounds pretty good, I’m not too sure whether current touchscreen technology is developed enough to let ultra-fast fingered DJs do their scratching, no pun intended. Also, a tactile touchscreen is very necessary as DJs usually like to feel the grooves of their vinyls even as they mix it up. If Scott can manage to engineer these very important features into this working prototype, he might just have turntable manufacturers eating out of his hands. Haptic Technology To Make Life Easier For The Blind - Gizmo Watch: "Haptic display technology is becoming pretty popular with lots of mobile makers including Apple Computers all set to embrace it in a big way. The Japanese Broadcasting firm, NHK have taken Haptic technology further by adding an optical touch panel that simulates symbols and icons with protrusions and recesses. This development now makes it possible for blind users to get audio messages as and when they touch icons represented in braille form on the haptic display panels. This obviously will help the blind use cellphones and other handheld devices very easily. The entire project is a collaborative effort between NHK and Tokyo University and was funded by Japan’s National Institute of Information and Communications technology. Expect this technology to filter down to mobile devices in the very near future. Meanwhile, to catch a glimpse of this technology in action, you can visit the NHK Science and Technical Research Laboratories Open House 2008 which happens on the 22nd to 25th of this month.
